I am pleased to offer regular writing workshops. I have moved to a remote format using Google Classroom and Google Meet until further notice.
Google tools are free to use and easy to access. If you need a bit of support before our first session, I'm happy to help. Instructions and materials for each remote event will be sent via Google Classroom in advance of each session. We will video conference, live and in real time, using Google Meet.

Do you like to reinvent characters, story plot lines, or even happy endings? Then this workshop is for you!
Together, participants will explore classic fairy tales and then turn them upside down and inside out! Join other creative writers with a great sense of humor and break all the fairy tale rules.
Maybe the princess can save herself and doesn't need that silly prince. Perhaps that fiery dragon is just lonely and could use a friend, or those three little pigs are really not that nice and deserve to be the wolf's dinner! It's all up to you!

Together, we will explore the elements of a great short story, develop story ideas, and cheer each other on as we each complete a short story inspired by our own lives and the world in which we live.

Teens, would you like to strengthen your writing skills? Join me to enhance your informational and argumentative writing.
Bring some of your work to share on Google Docs. The workshop will explore the following:
* Effective prewriting strategies, planning, and organization
* Thesis and claim development, & essay organization and structure
* Relevant main ideas, arguments, and supporting details/text evidence
* Strategic language, word variety, & transitional words and phrases
* Grammar, spelling, and punctuation pitfalls to watch for and how to
correct them
* Accounting for sources, in text citations, footnotes, and endnotes
* Accurately using MLA, APA, and Chicago styles
Gain greater confidence and power as a writer in an online circle of like minded teens, as you work together to enhance your skills.
Completed informational or argumentative pieces will be celebrated in our virtual work circle. Works will be shared with the group and with thought partners in Google Docs. to allow for thoughtful and constructive suggestions.
Open to all mature teen writers, ages 13 -19. Please note that older teens may choose more mature or controversial themes in their writing, so discretion is advised for younger teens.
We will use Google Classroom, Docs, and Meet to share and meet.

Have a project on hand that you’ve been wanting to finish, start something totally new, or explore your creativity with the writing prompt provided. The itinerary will provide time to write, share your work, and discuss what obstacles can get in your way of your creativity.

Many children tolerate writing; others like it. Yet, for some, it is a true gift. When a child demonstrates such passion and talent, we must encourage and celebrate it! Today, we celebrate Bernice Z., a fifth grader, who has written the delightful and fantastical story featured here.
Bernice Z. is a 5th grader with a passion for writing, and WOW!, she does an amazing job! After working together in the "If Dogs Could Talk..." Writing Workshop, Bernice wrote a delightful series of poems of a world in which dogs are kings. These poems are celebrated here. Enjoy!

In my recent teen writing workshop, teen writers and I explored thoughts and feelings around the COVID-19 pandemic. Works are currently undergoing revisions prior to publication.
In my recent teen writing workshop, two lovely young ladies and I explored writing personal narratives. Lindsay M., grade 11, and Cecilia K., grade 8, were an absolute delight with write with! Their commitment to the writing, revising, and editing process and collaborative feedback was impressive! Both of their personal narratives are featured here.
